This tincture contains a traditional blend of herbs that are non-addictive, gentle and safe. Taken over time, the mix will tonify the nervous system, so the more you take, the less you need. It is useful in both sleep onset i.e. difficulty falling asleep and maintenance insomnia i.e. difficulty staying asleep. The tincture can be taken throughout the day in order to promote restful sleep or taken acutely in cases of anxiety and panic attacks. The herbs in this tincture can also be used for their sedative and soothing properties and to lower blood pressure. This tincture should be avoided where there is a marked degree of depression. Use the Carahealth Nerve system, which is completely safe in depression and on antidepressants.
Valerian Valeriana officinalis – Valerian is antispasmodic, carminative, diuretic, hypnotic, nervine, sedative and stimulant. Valerian is noted especially for its effect as a tranquilliser and nervine, particularly for those people suffering from nervous overstrain. Valerian has been shown to encourage sleep, improve sleep quality and reduce blood pressure. It is also used internally in the treatment of painful menstruation, cramps, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome etc. The active ingredients are called valepotriates, research has confirmed that these have a calming effect on agitated people, but are also a stimulant in cases of fatigue. Valerian is currently one of the most popular orthodox antispasmodic medications in Russia and Germany. Its anticonvulsant action has been useful in treating epilepsy. Valerian is classified as a tonic herb. It can regulate and balance opposite extremes. Recent research has shown it to be a sedative but more research has reported it can also stimulate in a way as to improve coordination, increase concentration and energy. This tonic nature of Valerian allows it to depress or stimulate where necessary depending on the current needs of the nervous system.

All herbs are either 1 in 1s or 1 in 2s meaning they are 1 part herb in 1 or 2 parts liquid respectively, as opposed to other herbs on the Irish and UK market which are either 1 in 3s or 1 in 5s.
