This mix contains a blend of hypotensive herbs, that specifically lower blood pressure. The herbs increase the blood flow to the heart muscles, restore normal heartbeat and lower high blood pressure by dilating the peripheral vessels and tonifying the blood vessels. The tincture also has a sedative and tonic effect on the nervous system. It is safe to take in conjunction with heart medications. Medications will need to be adjusted in consultation with your doctor as symptoms improve.
Mistletoe Viscum album – Mistletoe is antispasmodic, anticancer, cardiac tonic, diuretic, hypotensive, immunostimulant, nervine, relaxant, sedative and vasodilator. Mistletoe is specific for lowering blood pressure. It is indicated for hypertension, arteriosclerosis, nervous tachycardia, hypertensive headache, chorea and hysteria. Viscum slows and steadies excessive heart rate and dilates the arteries, thereby lowering blood pressure. It acts directly on the vagus nerve to reduce heart rate while strengthening the peripheral capillary walls. It also has a sedative and tonic effect on the nervous system. It is indicated particularly when high blood pressure is associated with nervous tension and a high pulse rate, as well as for symptoms of nervous tension and spasm. Its cardiotonic action is thought to be due to the lignans, while the hypotensive action is believed to be due to a choline derivative related to acetylcholine. Choline derivatives bring about parasympathetic stimulation and vasodilation. According to Grieves, Mistletoe a great reputation for curing the 'falling sickness' epilepsy - and other convulsive nervous disorders. As a reputed anticancer agent mistletoe is a natural RTK inhibitor thereby preventing tumour formation. See Carahealth Longevity (anticancer tincture).
Hawthorn berry Cratageous oxycantha – Hawthorn berries are antispasmodic, astringent, cardiotonic, diuretic, hypotensive, sedative, tonic and vasodilatory. Hawthorn is the trophorestorative of the heart and possibly the most valuable tonic remedy for the cardiovascular system. It is used to treat disorders of the heart and circulation system, especially angina. It can be considered in most cardiovascular disease and safe to use on any cardiovascular medication. Western herbalists consider it a 'food for the heart', it increases the blood flow to the heart muscles and restores normal heart beat. This effect is brought about by the presence of bioflavonoids in the fruit, these bioflavonoids are also strongly antioxidant, helping to prevent or reduce degeneration of the blood vessels. The fruits and flowers have a hypotensive effect as well as acting as a direct and mild heart tonic. They are especially indicated in the treatment of weak heart combined with high blood pressure, they are also used to treat a heart muscle weakened by age, for inflammation of the heart muscle, arteriosclerosis and for nervous heart problems. Prolonged use is necessary for the treatment to be efficacious. Hawthorn is combined with ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba) to enhance poor memory, working by improving the blood supply to the brain. The bark is astringent and has been used in the treatment of malaria and other fevers. The roots are said to stimulate the arteries of the heart.

Specifically indicated in thrombotic conditions with hypertension, including cerebral and coronary thromboses. Yarrow has also been used in the treatment of heavy and painful periods, and the presence of steroidal constituents may help to explain this activity. It contains the flavonoid apigenin which is anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, antiplatelet and anticancer i.e. a natural aromatase inhibitor. It is specifically an Upper Respiratory Tract mucous membrane tonic. Yarrow is effective in treating all conditions affecting the Upper Respiratory Tract. The flowers are rich in chemicals that are converted by steam distillation into anti-allergenic compounds, of use in the treatment of allergic catarrhal problems such as hayfever. Recent research has shown that the root can increase the production of interferon and macrophages and thus help restore normal immune function in cancer patients. Patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiotherapy recover faster and live longer if given Huang Qi concurrently. It increases the production of blood cells. In TCM, Huang Qi is said to tonify spleen & lung Qi, raise spleen & stomach Qi and is used to treat prolapse, tonify the Wei Qi to boost the immune system and tonify Qi & blood due to loss of blood to treat postpartum fever. It is also used internally in the treatment of painful menstruation, cramps, hypertension, irritable bowel syndrome etc. The active ingredients are called valepotriates, research has confirmed that these have a calming effect on agitated people, but are also a stimulant in cases of fatigue. Valerian is currently one of the most popular orthodox antispasmodic medications in Russia and Germany. Its anticonvulsant action has been useful in treating epilepsy. Valerian is classified as a tonic herb. It can regulate and balance opposite extremes. Recent research has shown it to be a sedative but more research has reported it can also stimulate in a way as to improve coordination, increase concentration and energy. This tonic nature of Valerian allows it to depress or stimulate where necessary depending on the current needs of the nervous system
