Naturopathic Prevention & Treatment of Heavy Metal Toxicity
Heavy metals occur naturally in our environment, however, in modern times anthropogneic (man-made) pollution, has introduced high concentrations of heavy metals. Not all heavy metals are dangerous in the right amount. Iron, cobalt, copper, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc are "healthy heavy metals". Excessive levels of these can be damaging however. Certain toxic heavy metals can even be beneficial in the right amount. Examples include vanadium and tungsten, vanadium may be used in conjunction to improve glucose control in Type II diabetes, tungsten is involved in oxidoreducatse enzymes which are used in electron transfer.
