Eczema

Naturopathic Causes and Treatment of Eczema

psoriasis or eczema

Eczema is a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. Symptoms recurring skin rashes that are characterised by one or more of these symptoms; redness, skin oedema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. From a naturopathic perspective eczema is an allergic disease on the rise due to the hygiene hypothesis which proposes that the cause of asthma, eczema, and other allergic diseases is an unusually clean environment, the overuse of anti-pyretics (to suppress fever) the overuse and abuse of antibiotics and the overuse and abuse of vaccines. It is supported by epidemiological studies for allergic disease. The hypothesis states that exposure to bacteria and other immune system modulators is important during development, and missing out on this exposure increases risk for asthma and allergy.
